End of summer blues

Awww summer, with all her promises of fun, rest, excitement and time off from the mundane. Days we look forward to all year. Sun after long winters and opportunities to see family and friends.

What if we get to the end of summer and none of those things happened? What if we didn’t get the thrill or excitement that we thought we might get? Here it is August and time is running out to have those experiences. Maybe you are feeling leet out, sad, irritable or just down right pissed off.

Well don’t worry it happens sometimes.

We donn’t always get the expereinces or have the conditions we want, need or desire in life. Expecially those that we believe will help change our moods and lives for the better. August sometimes causes us to take stock in our lives and asks us to reevaluate how we are living.

Are we really living the life we want. If not, how can we make changes to what we are chosing to do?

I know, I know you don’t have the time, money, energy, etc. that you need to make that happen. There are multiple “reasons” we can have to prevent us from having a satisfying life and therefore bring on the blues.

Especially for those of us with trauma.

One the hardest things for people with trauma to deal with is the fact that often times one of the trauma responses is that we don’t experience emotions the way we did, or were suppose to before the trauma took over. We can actually be haivng all the events we think will make us feel good and have no emotional change at all. It is the weirdest thing ever. To be sitting in your favorite spot, doing the exact thing you have wanted to do forever and NADA! Zilch, Nothing…….GAWD its frustrating!,

If you are expereincing this kind of flat feeling it may be more than you not getting to do what you want. It might be something bigger.

Take heart, there is something you can do about it. Reach out to a therapist for help. There are qualified therepists in every state that can help. Keep your chin up. Soemtimes it takes a minute to find just the right one or even the tight treatment options. It does get better though. Keep it pushing.

Many blessings,

Karen
